Zoot serves as Lead Consultant (Sector Investment Coordinator) with the Orange County Business Council as part of the California Jobs First state initiative. In this role, he leads the execution of the Orange County Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Regional Activation Plan to grow the $16B industry with community partners as a Workforce Investment strategy.

Zoot teaches a Certificate in Government Leadership course at Cal Poly Pomona. We have just completed this semester and will return in Spring 2026.

Zoot leads Arts in Corrections programs at SATF-Corcoran and Avenal State Prisons through The Muckenthaler Prison Arts Program and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Zoot teaches a program using theatre to help inmates better tell their story for parole hearings, job interviews, and family reunification- three critical factors in success after prison. His next workshop is scheduled for January 2026 at Avenal. A documentary on his fall workshops at SATF Corcoran is set to be released soon.

Zoot’s Newest Book is out! How do organizations grow in a recession? small to LARGE: Growing Social Impact Organizations Against All Odds from Kendall Hunt Publishers (Book Tour ongoing). He will be the keynote speaker at Dana Point for a non-profit symposium on May 23.

Zoot just completed his yearlong contract as Interim Executive Director for Pasadena Heritage, in which we hosted record attendance at events, created a full evaluation and strategic plan, and stabilized the organization after a difficult leadership transition the year prior.

Member of Rotary Club of Altadena (Past-President of the Fullerton Club), Meeting on Thursdays at noon at The Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, $25 lunch. Zoot is also involved in the Restore Altadena grants committee, the Summer Concert Committee, and is the incoming Membership Chair for Rotary District 5300.

Zoot returned from the Calgary Rotary International Conference and took the Rocky Mountaineer across the Canadian Rockies in June 2025. See the VIDEO of the trip.
